SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Auspex Systems Inc. has introduced the Auspex brat, a small NAS server.
The server's components come installed in a 52-inch high by 28-inch wide cabinet that occupies roughly half the space of a typical Auspex server.
The brat ships in a standard configuration designed for departments of larger enterprises. It includes 500GB of storage, expandable in 500GB increments up to 4TB; Auspex's NDMP-based TurboReplicator software for use in conjunction with the customer's backup and restore application; a bilingual operating system that enables secure file sharing across Unix and Windows platforms; two RAID controllers; one network interface card of the customer's choice; and a power distribution unit built into the cabinet.
The system comes with RAID 5 by default or with any optional combination of RAID 0, 1 or 5, making it possible to use different security strategies for different kinds of data.
The brat clocks in at 19,755 IOPS in Unix environments and 55MBps in Windows settings.
