(Retailer News) Rite Aid and Duane Reade are the first drug chains offering pre-paid Napster cards good for 15 digital music downloads for a suggested retail price of $14.85. The music cards are the size of a credit card and feature the Napster "kitty" logo. They have scratch-off PIN numbers to activate credits for the online Napster music service, which features more than 500,000 tracks spanning all music genres. The cards allow teens who don't have credit cards to download music from the Internet legally.

After a string of copyright lawsuits and op, position from the music industry, Napster declared bankruptcy in September 2002. Roxio acquired the company's assets and launched the Napster 2.0 Web site, napster.com, Oct. 29.
